The Ministry of Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA) would like to convey its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the Rugby Legend of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Braiber Ngozi, who passed away on the International Workers Day, 01 May 2012 in his home in Port Elizabeth at 17h25.
SRSA and the sport loving people of the Republic would therefore like to pay homage to this fallen rugby hero from the Eastern Cape Province who hit South Africa with a storm in Border and Transvaal in the 1930s.
SRSA lowers its banners to pay tribute to the colossal contribution of this martyr towards a representative sport system in the Republic of South Africa and our society. His death robs South Africa of another library and a theatre of sport experience and his role in the transformation agenda in sport and recreation will not go unnoticed; and I hope the leadership of the South African Rugby Union (SARU) will find it in themselves to utilise this moment to reflect dearly on the pace of transformation in rugby especially in the Eastern Cape Province.
I believe that this will make sure that the spirit of Mr Ngozi and many other rugby legends in the Eastern Cape and elsewhere in South Africa will bless all the initiatives of SARU and SRSA to transform Sport and Recreation in particular rugby going forward; and that his participation and contribution in the development agenda in rugby won’t go unnoticed and forgotten.
May his soul rest in peace!
Thank you.
Minister: SRSA
Mr Fikile Mbalula
