Minerals major cause of traditional leadership disputes-North West Premier Modise

The North West Provincial Government believes that minerals are the major cause of traditional leadership disputes that have divided families and communities. North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise pointed out in her reply to the State of the Province Debate in the North West Provincial legislature on Thursday.

Premier Modise indicated that the provincial government has submitted all traditional leadership disputes in the province to the National Commission for resolution.

“The truth is often the first victim. Processes and procedures outlined in legislation must not be flouted. Traditions and cultures must be respected in determining the rightful Kgosi,” said Modise.
