Military Veterans on skills development service delivery programme in Sedibeng

The Department of Military Veterans - Skills Development service delivery programme, is currently underway in Sedibeng at the Vereeniging Banquet Hall, today the 05th of February 2024.

The objective of the programme is to address the backlog from four years ago, of skills development application approvals for military veterans and their dependents. The implementation of the programme is done in districts municipalities within provinces, with the aim of taking services closer to deserving military veterans.

This Department’s mandate is to facilitate access to training and development intervention to military veterans and their dependents through SETA’s, private sector service providers as well as other government departments, job opportunities in various government and private sector and partnership agreements and recognition of Prior Learning, for transferability of skills attained.

Six provinces, namely Eastern Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, the Western Cape, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo were visited during the 2019/20 financial year. The delay for roll outs to other provinces was caused by capacity challenges and the COVID pandemic. The three remaining provinces are up next, starting with Gauteng, followed by KZN and lastly North West. The Department calls on all military veterans to bring their skills development applications to the workshop for approval.

Applicants will be informed of the programme in their districts in advance through bulk smses, mobi-posters and newly created email addresses for responses.
