This year 12 August 2010 marks the beginning of a month long Ramadaan for the current year. The Muslim community will be observing this special religious event throughout the world.
Ramadaan is an annual religious event that presents an opportunity to engage in fasting and renew ones commitment to family and community bonds by among others increasing generosity.
“Government is committed to work together with all sectors of society including religious groups to improve the moral fibre of our nation. Selfless dedication to do good through religion is always appreciated in our province because we have fought for a non-racial, non-sexist, united and prosperous South Africa,” said Premier Cassel Mathale.
Evidently, programmes such as moral regeneration which is a nation building initiative undertaken by government and civil society are aimed at promoting human rights, ethical behaviour, social cohesion and the values enshrined in the Constitution of the country.
“We wish the Muslim community a blessed and fulfilling Ramadaan. We respect your commitment to empathise with millions of our people who endure the yoke of poverty and underdevelopment”, Premier Cassel Mathale said.
