Message of condolence from the CRL Rights Commission on the untimely passing of the Khoisan activist, John Roberts at Houtbay, Western Cape Province

The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (‘Hereafter the Commission) extends its sincere and intimate condolences to the surviving family of John Roberts, a well known Khoi-San activist who departed from this earth on the 13 October 2012 at Western Cape, Houtbay.

The Commission learnt that he was an active member of the Khoi-San Community in the Western Cape and that he even established a Cultural music band called Resurrection with an intention to influence transformation in his fellow community and in particular the youth.

The Commission would like to support efforts undertaken by the law enforcement agencies and the SA Maritime Authority to investigate the cause of the boat incident and prevent such occurrences in the future.

May his soul rest in peace and once again condolences to all Khoi-San Community Councils of the Commission in the Western Cape Province and in South Africa as a whole.
