The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities extends its heartfelt and deepest condolences to the family of the well-known, respected religious and spiritual leader, first speaker of Free State Legislature, conservationist and gender activist, Reverand Motlalepula Chabaku who departed from this world on the 11th of May 2012.
The CRL Rights Commission had a privilege to interact with Rev Motlalepula Chabaku on numerous occasions and the most memorable event was the Heritage month celebration that we organised in Freedom Park in 2011 and the Commission honoured her as one of our living Religious freedom fighters in the constitutional democracy since 1994 and further recognised her contribution in the struggle of cultural, religious and language rights in our beloved African continent.
Her devotion to the principles of ubuntu, unity in diversity and religious tolerance, peace, respect of the elders and conservation of nature were remarkable in our new democratic dispensation and we trust and hope that all peace-loving religious communities and young women and men of today will learn from her character and practice what she stood for during her days.
