Depending on the request a medical team may consists of doctors, nurses and emergency health care practitioners.
The SA Military Health Service (SAMHS) is also deploying personnel to assist with the cleaning of the hospitals.
To assist non-striking health care workers at hospitals the Department of Defence has created a toll-free number where they can report intimidation incidents when they are threatened. The number that people can dial is 0800 864 469.
In furtherance of our mandate and ethical obligations as a caring profession, the SAMHS is deployed in 49 hospitals across the country and would like to assure the public that these hospitals will remain open and provide health care.
