His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni, on the invitation of His Excellency President Jacob Zuma, travelled to South Africa on 2 August 2011, to hold political consultations with President Jacob Zuma.
The two Presidents held wide-ranging consultations on issues of mutual concern related to the African continent. As members of the African Union (AU) Ad-Hoc Panel on Libya, particular focus was placed on issues pertaining to Libya and the continuing mediation efforts of the African Union.
Discussions also centred on the devastating drought which is currently being experienced in the Horn of Africa in the run-up to the African Union Pledging Conference, scheduled to take place on 9 August 2011.
