The Provincial Disaster Management Centre has received reports of thunderstorms that have caused major disaster in Aganang Local Municipality, in particular Bugwal village.
About 166 families are left homeless, electricity poles on the ground and two people who sustained injuries are being treated at Knobel Hospital.
Private property and school classrooms are also damaged. The Department of Local Government and Housing has since dispatched a team of officials to the affected area to assess the damage and relieve the community from damages. Food parcels, blankets and tents are offered to affected households.
The MEC for Local Government and Housing, Limpopo, Soviet Lekganyane, calls upon all the people of Limpopo, to be vigilant and take extra caution.
