The Mpumalanga Department of Education has received the final report from the investigating team that was probing the recent developments at CEFUPS Academy. The investigation report confirms probabilities of administration of incidents of corporal punishment at this school.
Based on this report, the department has already written to the owner of the school on its intention to withdraw the registration of CEFUPS Academy in line with the provision of Regulations Relating to the Registration, Withdrawal of Registration and Subsidies to Independent Schools which were gazetted on 5 March 2013.
Mr. Mkhatshwa is expected to provide reasons on why this should not happen within 30 days. In the meantime, the department has directed the circuit manager, Mr Musa Linkwati to closely monitor the activities at this school and to provide monthly reports to the Head of Department.
The report from the investigating team will remain an internal document of the department until all matters relating to this school are finally concluded.
