The Office of the Premier has noted with concern allegations made in the media over the weekend that the Premier and the Director-General of Limpopo administration are refusing to meet with National Education, Health and Allied Worker's Union (NEHAWU) to deal with their grievances. For the record, these allegations are misleading, incorrect and thoroughly devoid of the truth.
The Office of the Premier has scheduled meeting with all the unions in the work place to deliberate on matters affecting employees through a structure called the Labour Forum. All the unions in the Office of the Premier including NEHAWU were furnished with the schedule in question for their effective participation in the said meetings. Subsequently, unions are requested to advance matters that should form part of the agenda items to the secretariat of the executive management before each meeting.
Last week Monday on 30 January 2012, the Director-General had a meeting with the PSA. The agenda of this scheduled meeting was based on matters send by the PSA to form part of the agenda items whilst NEHAWU did no sent anything, did not attend and did not tender apology for their absence. The meeting with PSA proceeded based on the agenda matter received from them. All matters raised by the PSA received the necessary attention and the meeting was fruitful.
It is against this backdrop that the Director-General calls on NEHAWU to honour the scheduled meeting so that their grievances can be addressed. The Labour Forum in the Office of the Premier is a pertinent platform designed to enhance deliberation on matters pertaining to, among others, conditions of service.
