South African President Jacob Zuma has today, 27 August 2009, arrived in Zimbabwe ahead of his two day working visit. Whilst in Harare, President Zuma is supported by the International Relations and Cooperation Ministers Maite Nkoana Mashabane, Minister in the Presidency, Collins Chabane, Ambassador Mlungisi Makalima as well as the Presidential Advisors, Charles Nqakula, Ambassador Lindiwe Zulu and Mandisi Mpahlwa.
President Robert Mugabe received President Zuma, supported by his Cabinet Ministers from the Inclusive Government (IG) as well as Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The Diplomatic Corps accredited to Harare formed a strong receiving line and the military paid tribute through a twenty one gun salute.
The visit by President Zuma to Zimbabwe comes within the context of South Africa's commitment to assisting the Inclusive Government of Zimbabwe. South Africa, in partnership with Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) remain committed guarantors of the implementation of the Global Political Agreement.
As a special guest of the Government of Zimbabwe, President Zuma will tomorrow officially open the 99th Zimbabwe Agricultural Society Show which will signify the solid ties that exist between two sister countries and also marks a leap forward in the economic recovery of Zimbabwe. Later, this evening President Zuma and his entire delegation will be hosted to a State Banquet at State House.
