North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa, on Tuesday, 2 February, appealed to residents of Bethanie to assist police in their investigation of the murder of an 11-year old boy who was shot dead during a spaza shop robbery in Bapong section on Monday morning.
It is alleged that a neighbour heard a gunshot around 1h30 am and went over to investigate. He found the body of the boy who had been shot dead. The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and groceries.
“We condemn in the strongest terms possible the callous murder of an innocent child. Those responsible for this wicked act should not be allowed to roam our streets and neighbourhoods,” said MEC Yawa.
Yawa has also urged police to work tirelessly to arrest those responsible and put them behind bars.
