The fixed–term contract period for 142 traffic wardens who were employed by the North West Department of Public Safety for efficient road traffic management and directing of traffic during the FIFA 2010 World Cup 2010 matches hosted at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium endstoday, Wednesday, 18 August 2010. The wardens were employed on a four months contract that commenced on 19 April to 18 August 2010.
North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa in appreciation of the services that were rendered by the traffic wardens during the Football World Cup wishes to reiterate his department‘s earlier commitment to consider the wardens for further appointment as either traffic wardens or provincial inspectors through normal selection procedure on advertisement of such posts.
MEC Yawa encourages the traffic wardens whose contracts have expired to apply for advertised posts within his department provided that they meet minimum requirements.
