North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa says that the arrest of two additional suspects in the Lethabong multiple murder and house robbery case on Sunday night has demonstrated the resolve of the police to turn the tide against criminality in order to win the war against crime.
The arrest of the two suspects whom police linked positively to the crime through finger prints found in the Nissan Navara bakkie and on electrical appliances allegedly stolen from businesswoman Maria Khoza brings to five the number of suspects expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate court on Tuesday. The bakkie was found abandoned in Brits on Friday.
Neighbours in Vula Section became worried when Khoza, who owned a supermarket, butchery and liquor store, did not answer her cellphone and was not responding to knocks on her door on Christmas Day.
They became suspicious when they spotted pools of blood in her garage and summoned police who broke down the door and made the gruesome discovery of the bodies of Khoza, Daniel Karfhia who was in his forties, Khoza’s two teenage sons and her nephew.
Earlier, MEC Yawa has commented the police for working tirelessly to solve the gruesome and heinous crime that had sent a shockwave throughout the Lethabong community. He applauded them for the swift arrests of the suspects and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Khoza and Karfhia families.
