MEC for Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison Helen Sauls-August has welcomed the assignment of the task team to investigate the violent murder of Police Station Commander, Nomalizo Dukumbane and calls on any witnesses to the murder to provide police with the valuable information.
The other two officer died this morning in a car accident in King Williams’s town when a police vehicle transporting prisoners collided with a trailer truck. The prisoner on the truck survived with head injuries. Both members are from SAPS in Stutterheim.
“We mourn the great loss of dedicate police officers who were committed to fight crime and make our communities safe. We extend our deepest condolences to their families and colleagues and encourage them not to be discouraged by the passing of their loved ones and colleagues.”
The departure of these dedicate officers must inspire all other SAPS members in the province to double their efforts in the fight against crime to make this province safer and contribute towards maximum community participation against crime, she said.
