MEC visits the successful integrated poultry projects in Capricorn

Arriving at the Blydrift farm wearing her favourite Bafana Bafana jersey number ten on soccer Friday to display a gesture of loyalty by displaying unwavering support to our South African squad was Me Letsatsi-Duba.

The visit was not meant to celebrate or to create a vibe about the world cup tournament but to support the Public Private Partnership that was initiated by Lonmin Platinum, Mvelaphanda, Limpopo Agribusiness Development Corporation (LADC) of building seven environmental broiler houses with a carrying capacity of 35 000 in each house.

The project will see the people of Mphahlele area benefiting from the massive project and also contribute in building the local economy of Lepellenkumpi. This is one of the projects which the MEC mentioned when making her recent budget speech pronouncements at the legislature.

According to LADC Acting Senior Manager on project development Mr Peter Ngoasheng told the visit team during the formal briefing that the key objective of the site visit was to acquaint the board and the MEC before the project is officially handed over to the beneficiaries in two weeks time. “Lonmin platinum and Mvelaphanda are the main funder which contributed an amount to a tune of 21 million whilst LADC came on board with five million to ensure that the project becomes a living reality,” he said.

MEC Letsatsi Duba spoke strongly about avoiding infighting within the project members as those are the ingredients that contribute on the collapse of many projects. “When we handover this project at the end of this month we need to witness something that is happening on the ground. As the department we would want to appeal that members should join hands to ensure that conflicts are avoided at all cost. This is your project, it belongs to all of us so it is our responsibility to make it work,” she said.
