The North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Paul Sebegoe, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families, relatives and friends of Kgosi Alfred Kgosinkwe Tsiepe of Baleteng ba ga Mokgojwa in Lekgophung near Zeerust and Kgosi Kegomoditswe Lucas Manyane Mabalane of Baphiring ba ga Mabalane respectively.
“We have lost outstanding and selfless leaders and tireless servants of the people of the North West. We salute them for their immense and sterling contribution towards building the institution of traditional leadership in the North West. It is our wish that those who remain behind, should continue from where these leaders left of,” said MEC Sebegoe.
Kgosi Tsiepe took over the reigns from his father, Kgosi Thutoeng Brown Mokgojwain 1976. He has been a member of the North West Provincial House of Traditional Leaders and Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (CONTRALESA).
Kgosi Mabalane acted as Kgosi of Baphiring from 2001 to 2008. He was instrumental in the establishment of the North West House of Traditional Leaders and has been the Deputy Chairperson. He served as a non-executive member of Golden Leopard Dirapeng, North West Housing Corporation, Provincial Geographical Names Change, African Peer Review Mechanism Council, North West Transport and Investment Pty/Ltd.
Kgosi Tsiepe and Kgosi Mabalane were buried in Lekgophung and Mabaalstad during the weekend.
