“The newly adopted, we can deliver with dignity and integrity”, is a guiding tool for the department to embark on a programme to revamp and synergize municipalities and institutions of traditional leadership to bring about a total turn-around such that there is accountability, effective service delivery and good governance,” said MEC Sebegoe.
The Destination 2016 campaign is expected to be piloted before end of this financial year and will mainly focus:
- leadership alignment
- Clean Audit 2014

- Financial viability
- Financial management and
- Stability and governance of traditional councils.
Furthermore, MEC Sebegoe added that by embarking on this campaign the department seeks to fulfil its long term goals of having improved and enhanced municipal administrations and cooperation between various structures to enable municipalities to render quantity and quality basic services to the people.
“This campaign will also assist us in building capacity to improve expenditure on capital budget especially on infrastructure conditional grants, build and strengthen the administrative, institutional and financial capabilities of municipalities by recruiting quality skills, uprooted fraud, corruption, nepotism and all forms of maladministration affecting municipalities through the establishment of structures and systems and most importantly to create a single window of coordination for the support, monitoring and intervention in municipalities,” he said.
