North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Paul Sebegoe has today met with the Royal House of the Bahurutshe ba Moiloa Boo Ramotshere in Dinokana in Zeerust.
The purpose of the meeting was to ensure that the administration of the tribal offices continues without disruptions and that services are rendered to the community.
Sebegoe was scheduled to meet the two opposing factions claiming the chieftainship of Bahurutshe ba Moiloa Boo Ramotshere tribe, but only one showed up for the meeting. He later briefed the community on steps to be taken by government to address the Chieftaincy disputes.
"We will be recalling the Zulman Commission to complete the task it was appointed to execute in May 2009 and to make sure that the outcomes of the commission is in line with the previous terms of reference set for the Zulman Commission," said Sebegoe.
Sebegoe is not satisfied with the report that was submitted by the Zulman Commission as it does not comprehensively address issues according to the terms of reference they were given.
He also expressed dissatisfaction at the attitude displayed by the current acting chief, Jubilee Moiloa in running the affairs of the traditional authority. "There is clear indication of lack of cooperation from his side which will compel us to review his role in this traditional authority to ensure that the community services are not disrupted".
There has been a succession dispute since the death of Kgosi Monnaamere J Godfrey Moiloa in 2007. This resulted in a number of court cases and the appointment of an acting Chief, Jubilee Moiloa. There are also allegations of the existence of a descendant of Kgosi Pogiso Grant Ramotshere Moiloa whom it is alleged is the rightful heir to the chieftain of Bahurutshe ba Moiloa Boo Ramotshere.
