The North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Paul Sebegoe, has hailed the recent appointment of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Mogoeng Mogoeng as a total transformation of the judiciary in South Africa.
MEC Sebegoe was speaking at an event to celebrate the appointment of Chief Justice Mogoeng which was recently held in Koffiekraal at the weekend.
“Today we celebrate the achievement of one of our very own, Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng who has recently been appointed the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa. I am yet to meet a man of Chief Justice Mogoeng’s calibre.
A man whose name managed to spark such huge controversy, yet in the midst of all the negative reports about him, he remained focused and dedicated to his commitment to bring justice to all South Africans irrespective of their colour, sex, religion or creed”, he said.
MEC Sebegoe said he had full confidence in Chief Justice Mogoeng’s confidence. “His experience and professional integrity is beyond reproach. He has led the North West High Court with distinction as a Judge President for more than 8 years before he was appointed to the position of a Constitutional Court as a Judge in 2009.
No one could have imagined that a young man born in the dusty rural streets of Koffiekraal would now be heading the judiciary of our country. His years of hard work, determination, zeal and endurance are now paying dividends. Chief Justice Mogoeng is a classical example of the saying that goes “It is not always about where you come from as a person but it is about where you are headed”, he said.
