MEC Maloyi condemns unruly behaviour allegedly by some contract workers in Ditsobotla
MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Nono Maloyi has condemned in the strongest possible terms, an incident in Ditsobotla in which documents belonging to the municipality were destroyed and disposed off on the streets of Lichtenburg this morning.
It is alleged that a group of contract workers whose contracts were terminated, reported for duty in the morning and went on a rampage and trashed official documents which they collected from municipal offices. Official documents could be seen strewn on the streets in Lichtenburg town.
MEC Maloyi said it is unfortunate that the workers reacted in that manner and has called for stricter security measures to be put in place in all municipal buildings. “We will not tolerate this kind of behavior, be it from officials, councillors nor members of the public. We will bring in law enforcement agencies to enforce law and order in Ditsobotla, when necessary’’, he said.
