MEC Nakedi Kekana sends condolences after five killed in head-on crash on R524

MEC for Transport and Community Safety Ms Nakedi Kekana  is deeply saddened by the horrific head-on collision that claimed five lives.The accident occurred along the R524 road just five kilometers outside Louis Trichardt Makhado Municipality Vhembe District.

The crash involved five vehicles  including a SAPS vehicle. Five people were certified dead on the scene, while two others sustained injuries - one critically and one seriously - and were transported to hospital by private and government ambulances.

"On behalf of the Limpopo Government, I send heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, including colleagues in the South African Police Service and also wish the injured ones a speedy recovery."says MEC Kekana

We wish  to commend all emergency services who responded swiftly - SAPS, Traffic, Fire & Rescue, Disaster Management and EMS.

The R524 is now opened as investigations and clearing continue. Motorists  are urged to avoid the area and exercise extreme caution.

The cause of the crash will be investigated.We once more urge drivers to be always cautious on the road by avoiding speeding,use road worthy vehicles and avoid reckless driving
