MEC Morakane Mosupyoe joins the football community in mourning the passing of Goodenough Sithole

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Morakane Mosupyoe has learnt with sadness of the passing of Orlando Pirates superfan  Sphamandla Goodenough Sithole, who passed away in the early hours of Friday, 06 January 2023.
 
Sithole, who was also known as “5 Skippers”, established himself as a household name by becoming Orlando Pirates FC’s number one fan, who would attend every club’s matches dressed as a woman. He will also be remembered by his entertaining choice of words during television and radio interviews. 
 
Reflecting on his passing, MEC Mosupyoe said, "I am saddened about the passing of Goodenough Sithole, who was not only a football fan, but a staunch Buccaneer till the end. The sport and football fraternity has lost one of its greatest supporters. We convey our heartfelt condolences and sympathy”. 
 
The MEC, on behalf of the people of Gauteng expresses her sincere condolences to the Sithole family, friends, Orlando Pirates FC and the football fraternity during this difficult time.
