MEC Molebatsi Bopape mourns untimely passing of Mbulaeni Mulaudzi

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation Molebatsi Bopape continues to mourn the tragic and untimely passing of South Africa’s international gold and silver medallist champion, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi who died in a car accident on Friday afternoon.

“It’s can be hard to understand and accept the passing of such a young and wonderful soul as Mbulaeni. This is indeed a tragic loss in the sporting fraternity as the young man showed great potential and always demonstrated commitment and patriotism in his field.  He will be remembered for leading team South Africa and carrying its flag in the 2004 Athens Olympics where he went on to win silver in the 800 meter competition. He also went on to win gold in the 2009 World Championship in Berlin.”

“On behalf of the Gauteng Government the department sends heart-felt condolences to the family in these trying times of dealing with such a tragedy. This is a loss for South Africa as we believe Mulaudzi he had a lot to still contribute. We should celebrate his life, his achievements even though his passing was sudden,” said Bopape.
