North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Desbo Mohono has urged the provincial South African Police Service (SAPS) Police Management to use the seven vacancies at Senior Management Service level to advance towards a 50-50 women representation. MEC Mohono was reacting to a report on vacancies within the SAPS presented to her during her meeting with the Peace Justice Crime Prevention and Safety Cluster departments on Monday in Mahikeng.

Of the 12 posts at cluster commander level, three women appointed at this level constitute 25% while seven males appointed at this level constitute 58%. Two posts are vacant at this level.
Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant Zukiswa Mbombo has assured Mohono that meeting the target of 50-50 representation at all levels within her organisation was among management’s highest priorities.
