North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono, on Thursday congratulated police for the speedy arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder of Sergeant Keneilwe Seleke in Itsoseng, outside Lichtenburg in the North West Province.
In commending the police, MEC Mohono said that that the arrest should send a message to criminals that though they might run, they could not hide from the long arm of the law.
Mohono said that such should be the speed of police investigations in all cases involving serious and violent crimes for the target to reduce serious and violent crime by 7-10% per annum to be met.
The three 19-year-olds arrested on Tuesday are expected to appear at the Itsoseng Magistrates Court on Thursday to answer to murder charges. A bloodstained scissors believed to have been used to stab Seleke was reportedly found by police during investigations.
Seleke was allegedly stabbed to death near home while being robbed on Saturday.
