MEC for Health in Gauteng, Ntombi Mekgwe would like to convey heartfelt condolences to the family of a patient who committed suicide at Far East Rand Hospital at the weekend.
The MEC who visited the hospital this morning to inspect the scene of the incident offered psychological support to the family as well as affected staff members. This will assist them in dealing with the sudden loss and trauma.
“Our sympathies are with the family at this difficult time and as the department we will support them in all ways possible,” says MEC Mekgwe.
The 39-year-old patient who was admitted at the hospital on Friday, 06 July 2012 jumped from the second floor in one of the hospital buildings and passed on instantly.
The police were called to the scene and investigations are continuing.
