MEC Mbali Hlophe mourns the passing of Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala

MEC Mbali Hlophe joins the entertainment Industry in mourning the passing of Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala.

The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Mbali Hlophe has learnt with shock and sadness of the passing of Kwaito legend and member of the iconic group TKZee, Tokollo Tshabalala, who passed away on Monday, 15 August 2022.
 
“Magesh”, as Tokollo was affectionately known, shot to prominence in the 1990s, when him and his two school friends Kabelo Mabalane and Zwai Bala formed Kwaito group, TKZee. This dynamic trio released hit songs including “Phalafala” and “Shibobo” among others.
 
Reflecting on his passing, MEC Hlophe said, "I am saddened about the passing of Magesh who was not only a renowned musician but a prolific song writer. The Kwaito fraternity and the entertainment industry at large has lost one of its greatest sons”. 
 
The MEC, on behalf of the people of Gauteng expresses her condolences to the Tshabalala family, TKZee, friends and industry colleagues during these difficult and trying times.
