MEC Mazibuko wishes a harsh sentence for Etwatwa rapists

MEC Faith Mazibuko is disgusted by the rape incident where a mother and a daughter were gang raped repeatedly and brutally murdered in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni last Sunday.

“To think that this horrific and horrendous crime even happened in full view of children, it did not only resulted in trauma but sad memories these children have to live with.  I send my deepest condolence to the family of the bereaved. Criminal Justice System must act harshly to send a strong message that women’s rights are human rights.” said MEC Mazibuko

MEC appeals to the community of Etwatwa to come forward with information that would lead to the speedy arrest of the suspect.  Chances are that these criminals live amongst the community and are someone’s brother, father or uncle. The police will welcome any reliable and solid information that will lead to the arrest. It is for this reason that the Department has launched the ‘know your neighbourhood‘ campaign that seeks to root out criminal elements within the community.
