MEC Mazibuko welcomes the appointment of a new National Police Commissioner

The MEC for Community Safety in Gauteng, Ms Faith Mazibuko, welcomes the appointment of Mangwashi Victoria Phiyega as the new National Commissioner of Police. The appointment is a demonstration on the part of President Zuma’s trust and confidence in the women of South Africa, as well as the quest for the total emancipation of women.

With the rampant abuse of women and children, particularly the rape of girl children and the vulnerable such as mentally and physically challenged, a lot could be expected. As the lead Department on issues of women and children in Gauteng ‘perpetrators can expect harsh and decisive action on the horrendous acts of violence committed with a sense of total impunity and disregard for women’s rights, said MEC Mazibuko.
