The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko condemns with strongest possible terms the killing of a member of the Provincial organised crime unit, Quite Mennong, on Monday morning.
Mennong (31) was responding to a tip off of a robbery about to take place at a supermarket in Dobsonville extension 4 when he was fatally shot by would be robbers.
“The province has been robbed of a selfless and dedicated detective. His passing is not in vain and it would not weaken the morale of our police force but will instead encourage them to do even more to continue to protect and serve our communities. I appeal to the courts to expedite this case and give the perpetrators the harshest sentence. This will send a strong message to the would be perpetrators that such atrocities cannot be tolerated in our country.
