MEC Mayathula-Khoza Launches Bontle Ke Botho (BkB)

Since its inception, BkB is supported by a cluster of themes which include Water Conservation, Litter and Waste Management, Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Agriculture and Greening. The campaign's overarching theme is “Sustainable Living and Poverty Alleviation.”

Requirements for the competition this year is that, entrants will have to participate in all themes to be considered winners. MEC Mayathula-Khoza will outline the benefits of participating in BkB Clean and Green Campaign in her address tomorrow.

Last month, in her State of the Province Address, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane stated “As part of our commitment to promote sustainable development in the province and ensure the effective management of our natural resources, we will step up community campaigns on the cleaning and greening of Gauteng.”

The department believes that the municipalities and schools should play a leading role in cleaning and greening campaigns that will create awareness, educate and provide facilities that will help communities to take care of the environment.
