The Minister for Community Safety, Adv. Lennit Max, regrets the death of a female driver who died in a head on collision with a bus carrying more than 40 police students on the R27 on Friday.
He said that allegations of negligence and that the accident was caused when the driver tried to overtake a car will be properly investigated.
He conveyed his condolences to the driver's family and expressed his relieve that only three occupants of the bus suffered serious injuries.
Max said that road accidents is costly and that the burden of disease is carried by the Health Department as well.
As demonstration of the seriousness of road safety and to improve law enforcement, Max is currently on a Road Show to all the Provincial Traffic Centres in the Western Cape.
Here he will be addressing traffic officers to enforce the law of the road without fear or favour and to have a zero tolerance approach when it comes to road safety and the safety of road users.
He also urges all road users to drive responsible at all times and obey all road signs.
