MEC Marawu to address launch of 43 air school air traffic control (ATC) training centre

Eastern Cape Transport MEC Thandiswa Marawu will officially launch the air traffic control (ATC) training centre, Piper Piper Coffee centre and Piper Authorised Dealership at the 43 Air School in Port Alfred on Friday, 5 May 2011 at 16h00.

As part of the launch ceremony, 43 Air school will be awarded Airborne Insurance Safety Trophy.

MEC Marawu has applauded the strong relationship that has been built and maintained between her department and 43 Air School over the years and says the results are there for everyone to see, alluding to the successful joint initiatives undertaken at Bhisho Airport.

As a result of all these improvements, the school now:

  • Offers Air Traffic Controller Training at their new ATC training centre
  • Has been equipped with a state of the art ATC Stimulator Incorporating a 360 3D Visual System
  • Been approved as a Piper Aircraft Sales and Service Centre 

At the launch, MEC Marawu will be joined by 43 Air School CEO Mr Attie Niemann, National Airways Corporation CEO Mr Martin Banner and the Chief of the South African Air Force.
