“As part of celebrating government’s 20 years of democracy we, as the provincial department entrusted with the constitutional mandate of supporting traditional leaders want to ensure that we fulfil and honour that mandate. Part of our support includes building offices where traditional communities can run their day to day administration of their traditional councils. I would also like to urge the community to take care of these offices make use of them for what they are meant for as they will also be used as service point centre for other government services”, she said

MEC Tlhape also admitted that there are still other traditional councils who are still struggling in terms of workspace and day to day operations of their traditional council. “We are aware that there are still some traditional communities who are still operating without offices and other vital resources but as a department which deals with matters of traditional leadership it is our priority to ensure that all tribal councils in the province have adequate resources to be able to appropriately provide services to rural communities that they serve,” MEC Tlhape said.
