MEC opens a R14 millions school in Mqanduli

The community of Mxambule location in Mqanduli celebrated the official opening of their R14 million worth school, Manzolwandle Secondary School after patiently waiting for more than 15 years.

The brand new school boasts 10 new classrooms, administration block, science laboratory and computer laboratory. According to the local chief, Chief Manzolwandle Sandile in 1999 the then Premier Makhenkesi Stofile visited the school and asked the needs of the community and a need for a high school was one of the priorities of the community amongst others.

Officially opening the school, MEC for Education Mandla Makupula commended the community and the contractors who assisted in building the school. “This school is here to enrich lives and minds of this community at large and as a result of that I give you my word that the school will have appropriate tools like computers, chemicals for science labs, and the furniture will be delivered to the school”. He added by making a pledge to the community that the department come back will be what it has started at the school.

South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) representative applauded the department for its effort to fast track the building of the school and edged learners to maintain the well-being of the school, and the teachers to keep the establishment functional.

Mabhamba, the principal of the school thanked the department for its support throughout the years and encouraged parents to make sure that learners attend classes regularly as the school will only function with having learners.
