On Tuesday, 24 June 2014 the Executive Council of the province took a decision to place the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality under section 139(4)(b) of the Constitution of Republic of SA (Act 108 of 1996).
The decision follows the request by the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality. The Municipality has been plagued by challenges associated with the appointment of a Valuer and compilation of the Property Valuation Roll for 2014 to 2018.
In spirit of cooperative governance, the Provincial Executive Council will exercise its constitutional responsibility by providing support and building capacity at the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality.
The intervention will last until the municipality has adopted a new valuation roll.
