The MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (SACR) Lebogang Maile has hailed Orlando Pirates for their achievement in winning the 2011/12 Premier Soccer League championship.
The Gauteng based outfit has, in the past two seasons dominated the league by winning 6 trophies including 2 league titles.
“Congratulations to Orlando Pirates, they really have done well for themselves and in the process made us very proud. Their domination in the past two seasons is indicative of how seriously the club has taken their football by investing in the market for top players.
We believe this augurs well for football as other teams will also look forward to doing well in the coming season which means more competition and more fans attending the games”, says MEC Maile.
Meanwhile, the team will make a stop at the SACR offices at 85 Rissik corner Market in JHB, to present their trophy (ies) to MEC Maile on Tuesday, 22 May at 9h30. This will happen during the team’s street parade of the trophy on an open bus throughout the Johannesburg CBD.
