Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Lebogang Maile has congratulated Orlando Pirates on their fantastic finish to the season. This follows the Bucs clinching the coveted Nedbank Challenge Cup in Mbombela Stadium over the weekend.
“We are pleased that yet again a Gauteng based Premier Soccer League (PSL) side has brought it home to the Home of Champions. Indeed an Ode to the Buccaneers is in order following their clinical finish against Leopards and their overall achievements this season are nothing short of a fantastical feat. We are proud of them,” said an elated Maile.
“We are proud of the achievements of all our Gauteng based teams and we are indeed looking forward for inspirational times in the next season. Swallows has survived relegation and Jomo are back in the league. Kaizer Chiefs is in the top 8 together with Sundowns, Wits and Supersport and so we are in for the best of times,” added Maile.
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will continue on its crusade to ensure that, jointly with the teams we continue to draw large spectator numbers to the grounds.
