Gauteng Health and Social Development, MEC Qedani Mahlangu, has expressed her sadness at the passing away of baby Ashleigh Louw at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital today.
Baby Ashleigh as she was affectionately known was born in January this year at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital with her heart outside her chest. In addition baby Ashleigh’s heart had other abnormalities. MEC Mahlangu sends her condolences to Baby Ashleigh’s family and relatives. “Our prayers have been with you during baby Ashleigh’s stay at the hospital and we will continue to pray for you as you gather all the strength to deal with your loss,” she said.
The MEC also thanked the doctors and staff who gave everything to ensure that baby Ashleigh pulls through. “As the department we believe that health workers at the hospital did all in their power to save her life but unfortunately God had other plans for the little girl,” added MEC Mahlangu.
