Christmas is a time for giving and sharing and mothers who will be blessed with children at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on the day will be showered with gifts for their little ones.
Gauteng MEC for Health and Social Development, Qedani Mahlangu, has donated gifts to the hospital for children who will be born on Christmas Day.
The babies first Christmas presents include disposable nappies, baby shampoos, body lotion and other baby essentials.
“During this time of giving, we would like to share with the mothers in their joy as they bring new lives in this world. There can be nothing as fulfilling than bringing a new life on this earth, we wish them a long and healthy life,” she says.
The MEC also reminds new mothers to take good care of their babies and ensure that they receive the necessary immunisation to prevent ailments affecting mostly children.
MEC Mahlangu also called on parents to ensure the safety of their children during this busy time of the year. She says incidents such as drowning in swimming pools, missing in shopping malls and sexual abuse is on the rise during the festive season.
