MEC Kegakilwe sets up task team to unlock service delivery blockages in Moretele local municipality

North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Gordon Kegakilwe, has established a task team that will work with Moretele local municipality to ensure that service delivery challenges raised by the community of Dipetlelwane are addressed as a matter of urgency.

MEC Kegakilwe’s engagement with community representatives follows a memorandum in which the community complained about lack of service delivery in their area, with specific reference to inadequate provision of water as well as the bad condition of internal (municipal) roads. The community currently relies on one borehole for water supply because the other six boreholes are dysfunctional.

MEC Kegakilwe called on the residents and traditional leaders to cooperate with relevant structures in ensuring that services are rendered to communities.

“Citizens should take responsibility and work hand in hand with ward committees and other relevant structures to ensure these structures work towards improving their lives,” he said.

He further urged residents to pay for basic services to ensure continued provision of municipal services.
