North West MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mothibedi Kegakilwe, has passed his condolence to the Barolong boo Tau Rapulana community in Bodibe Village as well as the Matlaba royal family following the death of Kgosi Makgwe Israel Matlaba. Kgosi Matlaba died on Wednesday, 30 June 2010.
“We have lost a true community leader. Government has identified rural development as one of its service delivery priorities and we need a person of Kgosi Matlaba’s calibre to work with government in advancing the lives of our communities. I wish to commit my department to supporting the family during their time of mourning. We trust that the work of the late Kgosi Matlaba will continue and the dreams he had for his people will grow and prosper,” he said.
Kgosi Matlaba was appointed as leader of the Barolong boo Tau Rapulana tribe in May 1982. He was relieved of his leadership duties in May 2009 after suffering a stroke attack. His eldest son, Rapulana was appointed by the royal family to act in his father’s position. He will be buried on Saturday, 10 July 2010 at the Bodibe Kgotla.
