Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC Gordon Kegakilwe has urged community members in various municipalities across the North West province to take advantage of various public participation platforms in their localities to ensure their active contribution in the identification of development needs in their localities.
“Government has invested a lot of capital in the provision of services to the public, it is therefore important that our people are not left out and should be part of the planning process such as the Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) in order to benefit from Programmes intended to improve their lives,” MEC Kegakilwe said.
Highlighting the department’s unwavering commitment in partnering with various stakeholders to ensure the provisioning of services, MEC Kegakilwe said the department would continue to work with communities in the creation of better lives.
“We want to ensure that we put a collective effort in creating an accountable government that will produce results for our people,” he added.
MEC Kegakilwe has condemned the destruction of public property by members of the community during service delivery protests and has called on the public to exploit relevant platforms in addressing service delivery challenges in their areas.
