Attacks to foreign national in Gauteng province
Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Jacob Mamabolo condemns all violence towards foreign nationals and has announced that the Provincial Disaster Management Centre is on full alert and on standby to assist people in distress.
"In response to the recent wave of attacks to foreign nationals, the Gauteng Provincial Disaster Management Centre together with the City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Sedibeng District Municipality and Westrand District Municipality have activated their contingency plans to effectively coordinate assistance to displaced people and assist security forces to coordinate response to the recent wave of attacks," MEC Mamabolo said.
The Disaster Management Joint Operations Centers in the following municipalities have been activated:
- City of Johannesburg
- Ekurhuleni Municipality
The Provincial Disaster Joint Operations Centre has also been activated.
Disaster Management Officials are on standby to provide assistance in the following municipalities:
- City of Johannesburg
- City of Tshwane
- Ekurhuleni Municipality
- Sedibeng District Municipality
- Westrand District Municipality

"It must be stressed that the Provincial Disaster Management Centre and Municipalities are very serious about ensuring the safety, security and well-being of all residents in the province," MEC Mamabolo said.
