MEC Florence Radzilani condemnes Mookgopong killings

The MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison Me. Florence Radzilani condemns the brutal killings of three orphaned minors in Mookgophong (Naboonspruit) over the weekend.

The three minors range in age from nine to twelve years. The two boys and a girl were reported missing from Wednesday after they failed to return to the Montadi Youth Care Centre where they were sheltered. Their bodies bore
the marks of assault and the little girl appeared to have been raped.

No one has been arrested for the murders yet. The police have been instructed to leave no stone unturned in investigating this brutal and cruel killing of these three young people. Failure to protect women, children, and the disabled and other vulnerable  members of our society will be tantamount to a failure of our democracy.

The SAPS have a duty to ensure the safety and security of people of Limpopo and visitors are alike. We are encouraged by the Provincial SAPS Commissioner, Lt-Col TS Mpembe’s commitment that the police will work around the clock to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.

Members of the community are also encouraged to volunteer whatever information they may have or come across to help the police speedily bring finality to the matter.

I express my heartfelt condolences to the kith and kin of Kekana on the loss of the three loved ones.
