MEC Creecy applauds Sci-Bono's David Kramer

The Gauteng Department of Education congratulates Mr David Kramer, the Chief Executive Officer of Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, who will be knighted by the French government for his work with the two countries and in science.

The French government will bestow Mr Kramer with the signet of the Knight of the French National Order of Merit.

"This is a well deserved recognition of the invaluable contribution which you have made in championing Maths and Science education in the Gauteng province," said Gauteng Education MEC Ms Barbara Creecy.

The MEC also commended Sci-Bono for the "role it is playing in our schools" adding that the department was proud to have a person of Mr Kramer's calibre.

Sci-Bono Discovery Centre which is based in Newtown, was initiated by Gauteng Department of Education and the private sector to support education in mathematics, science and technology. It also improves public engagement with science, engineering and technology thus promoting career education in these critical areas of the economy.

Recently Sci-Bono Discovery Centre was abuzz with activity during the winter school holidays as scientists in white lab coats took charge of the laboratory to mark the Global Water Experiment programme. Sasol and other partners embarked on a national science and chemistry initiative involving different high schools nationally.
