MEC Collen Maine visits injured official in hospital and family of the deceased

North West MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement, Collen Mokone Maine, accompanied by the Head of the Department, Moss Kgantsi, today visited a departmental official at Klerksdorp hospital following his involvement in a horrific accident on Friday last week.

Reabetswe Malefo was the driver of the car when the accident happened between Koster and Lichtenburg. Apparently he lost control of the car, causing it to veer off the road and killing the passenger, Lesego Mokomela instantly, whilst Malefo sustained serious head injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

MEC Maine remains satisfied with the treatment Malefo is receiving from nurses in hospital. “The Department would organize the necessary trauma and counseling for both families, especially for the family of the deceased. Currently, our human resource management officials are taking charge to make sure that the Department provides the necessary support for both families. We will ensure that our departed colleague gets a proper send-off,” said MEC Maine.

Mokomela who is survived by his parents and siblings will be buried at the weekend in Lotlhakane village near Mahikeng.

Tomorrow on Tuesday MEC Maine will visit the family of the deceased.
