MEC Anroux Marais expresses sorrow at the passing of Matjiesfontein legend Johnny Theunissen
Western Cape MEC of Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais has expressed her deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of legendary Matjiesfontein resident and village pianist Johnny Theunissen.
MEC Marais said: “The Western Cape, and the Karoo in particular, has lost a great person who showed all of us the spectacular difference you can make in the community in which you live. No-one who passed through Matjiesfontein over many years will ever forget this legendary raconteur and pianist. His flame was extinguished way too early at the age of 56: He lived life to the fullest, he made a difference to all of our lives, and he will never, ever be forgotten.”
